Everyone knows that Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the largest gambling meccas in the world. In fact, Las Vegas is home to over 1,700 licensed casinos with a large number of them located either on the Las Vegas Strip or along Fremont street in the downtown area of the city. People come from all over the world just to enjoy all types of gambling from table games to slot machines. So if you want to spend time in the casino doing some heavy duty gambling, then this is exactly the place you will want to spend your time while in Las Vegas.

If you are taking your family, however, gambling may not be the main thing that you are interested in doing while in the city of lights and glitter. Beyond the spin of the roulette wheel and the chattering of dice, there are a large number of things to see and do in Las Vegas that even children will love. For starters, by day be sure to visit the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grant Hotel. Follow this up with a stroll through the rain forest Flamingo Gardens in the Flamingo Hotel. Take in the Shark Reef Aquarium where children can huge sea turtles, graceful jelly fish, crocs and sharks of all kinds as they course their way through the beautiful coral reefs. Stop by the white tigers exhibit and wander through the Secret Garden of the Mirage Hotel. Enjoy the thrill rides in the 5 acre Adventuredome amusement park at the Circus, Circus Hotel with a selection of 25 rides including the Canyon Blaster roller coaster, a rock climbing wall and a miniature golf course to name just a few of the fun rides you will find here. Take a leisurely boat ride on the canals of Venice with a serenaded gondola ride through St. Mark’s Square at the Venetian Hotel or travel up inside the Eifel Tower. Stop off for a sweet treat at the M&M world candy store or catch a glimpse of history at Madame Tussauds wax museum with over 100 wax figures of the world’s most famous people. The fun and excitement of Las Vegas has much to offer.

For older children who may be more into the more thrilling side of Las Vegas, enjoy the high velocity roller coaster that screams around the New York, New York skyline or dangle over the city high atop the Stratosphere Tower. By night, take in the explosive beauty of the Mirage volcano or the striking nightly water battle of the Sirens of TI. Travel downtown to see the pulsating light display and rock concerts of the Fremont street experience. Take a zipline trip across the heads of the crowds of people lining the Fremont Street for a not-to-be-missed adventure. In addition to these activities, the shopping in Las Vegas is world class. Be sure to visit the shop by Cesar’s Palace, City Center as well as Fashion Square mall on the heart of the Las Vegas Strip.

For day trips, visit the historical Hoover Dam and take a tour inside the dam to see the inner workings of this massive structure. Enjoy the dramatic scenery of Red Rock Canyon National Recreational Area or ski down the slopes of nearby Mt. Charleston. If you have a bit more time, be sure to make the 278 mile drive to enjoy the elegant beauty of the Grand Canyon. Even if you never put a nickel into a slot the whole time you are in Las Vegas, this will be one vacation that you will not forget.
